In and Out of the Clouds
It might aptly be said that artists are people who have had the good fortune to never grow up. In 'I am 4, 5, 6,' Margot Bevington does a delightful job of capturing and conveying the wonderment of childhood, a key factor in why young listeners are so quickly and deeply drawn into the music. The album opens with 'From There to Here', a song whose catchy harmonies and probing lyrics pose deeply imaginative questions reflective of a child's point of view. 'I Saw a Fairy' is a gorgeously constructed tune whose classically inspired instrumentation (notably flute, harp and piano) and flight-conjuring vocal motif are perfectly suited to the song's theme. 'Storytime' recalls the joyful experience of being read to as a child, awe-inspiring adventures dispensed night after night from pages perused alongside Mom or Dad. There is many a gem to be heard on this genre-spanning album, a collection of 12 original compositions that shine an appreciative light on youngsters' creativity, resourcefulness, and their inexhaustible wellspring of imagination.
