It is also a great family card game in which players take turns scoring points by forming words from cards in their hand (placed face up on the table) and by inserting cards into words already played. In so doing, wild cards can be substituted for any letter and can subsequently be reacquired for later use by any player who puts a letter in its place that results in a different word. Challenges as to the legitimacy of a word can be issued, but not without point-loss risk to both challenger and challenged depending upon who is proved correct. Throughout, players exhibit a remarkably high level of engagement due to Word Splice's smooth-flowing game play, the frequent presence of multiple scoring possibilities to consider, and the ability to hit it big on any given turn and snatch victory from overconfident opponents!
