This delightful book conveys an impressive amount of scientific information in terms that young children find relatable and thus easy to understand. Atoms, protons, neutrons, electrons, the strong force, ionic and covalent bonds, molecules, elements and quite a few other seemingly complex concepts are concisely explained using gorgeous, playful illustrations and lilting rhymes that hold youngsters rapt. That the author and artists accomplish this without shortchanging the quality of the explanations or substituting childish nomenclature is something of a marvel. If elementary, high school and college texts were to take a similarly engaging approach, the result would undoubtedly be a significant increase in the number of scientists and scientifically savvy adults in our world.
