This sweet, vividly illustrated story is filled with fully-imagined creatures with inspired names - Jilla Birds, Quibblefish, Cranny Bugs, and, of course, the adorable Cutie Boos. They all can be found on or around Booyville Island in the Optula Sea, where a magical tree produces a golden berry that can make your wish come true. When a young Jilla Bird named Gizzo desperately wants to learn to fly but is at his wits' end, it's Cutie Boos to the rescue! The gang pulls Gizzo up the mountain in a sling (after trying to shoot him up there in a giant slingshot) and then the hunt is on for the Golden Goola Berry. Unfortunately, the not very nice Maloo Boo is interfering and trying to steal Gizzo's wish. He almost succeeds, too, but Gizzo dives off a cliff to get his berry back and learns to fly in the nick of time. The Cutie Boos (Pookie Boo, Wurly Boo, and Buckaroo, to name a few) are bright, cheerful creatures who naturally like to lend a hand, and the message here is that anything is possible when you believe in yourself.
