The Global Game Changers story may revolve around fictional superheroes, but the organization and concept behind it are all about making a difference in the real world. This illustrated children's story, available as both hardback book and mobile app, details the exploits of Global Girl and her sidekick Little Big-Heart as they recruit real-life kids to help make the world a better place. We're introduced to three real-life heroes - a girl who helps fight hunger by aiding a food bank, a boy who started an organization to combat bullying, and a girl who formed an organization to provide socks to people in need. The mobile app, which kids can read to themselves or set to be read to them, has several interactive features - swipe an arrow onscreen to cause a superhero to fly, touch orange sparkles for an array of surprises, tap the GGC symbol or the villain, Krumi, and see what happens. The story inspires us to be a superhero, and a call to action at the end invites us to make a difference by joining the Global Game Changers' online community. On the website, kids enjoy activities, create avatars, share their own stories of helping others, earn points and badges of honor, vote for their favorite charities (top choice earns a share of GGC proceeds), and more. The book, app, and website are entertaining and engaging, and the theme - fighting apathy, making a difference, being a force for good - couldn't be more timely.
