Touchtronic Letters employs a mix of physical and digital play as a means of teaching letter recognition, phonemic awareness, and word building to children. The set includes 26 plastic letters designed to interact with a free iPad app that contains 3 different word and letter games. In Mystery Door, placing any letter on the onscreen scanner reveals an object whose name starts with that letter. In Letter Bubbles, players pop a bubble by placing on it the letter that matches the beginning sound of the object held within. Word Machine spins letters the way a slot machine spins symbols, resulting in a word with one letter missing. Placing the correct letter triggers a new spin and a new word. The app is very easy to use. There are excellent spoken communications throughout that let you know if you've placed the wrong letter or placed one upside down, and the app verbalizes enthusiastic support with each success, speaking the word aloud and repeating its beginning sound.
