It tells the tale of Van Gogh's touching friendship with the postman's son, a story of compassion and tolerance. The watercolor illustrations are startlingly beautiful. With a tap, kids can paint the characters as they please. The personalized characters then reanimate, becoming part of the artwork. Kids can also tap to play a fascinating game in which a machine-like armature that makes the characters move appears. Parts of the armature collapse and must be returned to their proper place within a given time to win. Tapping a painting provides an amazing 3D experience as one navigates a museum, viewing and learning facts about 10 different Van Gogh paintings. Throughout, the narration is superb.
