This DVD does a fine job of making material many kids otherwise find challenging highly entertaining and easy to absorb. Viewers join young student Kevin as he is whisked away to the Super Science Station by Marko the Pencil. There they join the very earthy Terra, an earth science expert who helps explain a wide variety of concepts, including the solar system (and a memorable acronym for recalling the order of the planets), the water cycle (evaporation, condensation, precipitation, accumulation), rocks and fossils, topography, plate tectonics, and more. The material is extremely well organized into bite-sized segments that consist of lively conversation interlaced with plenty of humor, and songs that are as playful as they are instructive. This mix of fun and learning proves quite effective at keeping kids happily engaged throughout, resulting in a high level of comprehension and recall of the wide-ranging material.
