This delightful musical CD excels at every level. The 14 well-crafted songs presented here are memorable and singable, the musicianship of the performers exceptional - which is one way of saying you're in for a highly enjoyable listening experience. Whether or not you consider yourself to be socially conscious, you'll be familiar with many of the food themes visited here - sometimes humorously, sometimes not, but always in earnest. There's locally grown food, school lunches, junk food, picky eating, Farmer's Markets, world hunger, and more. Yet there's nothing preachy about the lyrics. Everything fits together so seamlessly - one sign of exceptional songwriting - that you just find yourself swept up in the music. From the opener, 'Farmer's Market,' with its joyous, vivid imagery, to the beautiful, hymn-like closing tune, 'Enough For Everyone,' you'll find yourself happily in for the ride. The diverse instrumentation is largely acoustic, although there are a couple of numbers with an overtly electric sound. Humorous selections such as 'The Junk Food Pyramid' give testament to the cleverness of the songwriters. From song to song, there's a great variety of tempo and feel, while throughout, the production quality remains exceptionally crisp and clear. Even the packaging and cover artwork are first-rate.
