Anomia is a fantastic party and family game - quick moving, easy to learn, and it plays well across a broad range of ages. Most important of all, it's great fun, with players moving frenetically, laughing out loud, and shouting out answers. Players take turns rapidly flipping cards from the tops of draw piles, placing them face up on their own play pile. Whenever two different players' card symbols match one another or match the symbols shown on a Wild Card on the table, a Face-off immediately begins between them. Face-offs are where the points are scored, and they happen frequently. Each card contains both text and a symbol, and the goal in a Face-off is to be the first player to give a correct example of the person, place, or thing on the other player's card. For example, if your opponent's card says 'Muppet' and yours says 'Seafood,' you might correctly shout 'Elmo,' or 'Miss Piggy,' or any other Muppet name, but you would want to do so before the other player blurts 'Salmon,' or 'Sushi,' or any other seafood. Being first means you get to take the loser's top card and place it in your Winning Pile. But stay on your toes! The removal of the loser's top card can trigger another immediate Face-off by revealing a new top card that matches another player's. The player with the most cards in their Winning Pile once all the draw cards are gone, wins. 3 to 6 players. (Toy Fair Booth #5959)
