The brightly colored plastic pieces that are the primary building blocks of CLICS consist of flat, rectangular shapes that snap together with a satisfying click. Once joined, their point of connection acts as a hinge, making possible the construction of very durable 3-dimensional structures at a surprisingly rapid pace. For example, building a cube that can bear a weight of well over 100 lbs takes about 30 seconds. The illustrated instructions show how to make a variety of items (a dog, tower, house, chair, jeep, and others), but where CLICS really shines is in how the ease and durability of its connections inspires free-form creative play. Also included are rods that broaden the ways pieces interconnect and can serve as axles for the wheels included in the set. The result is a building toy capable of inspiring an endless variety of contemporary and futuristic designs - vehicles, creatures, habitats, and a multitude of things not yet invented.
