Centsible Kids helps children learn and think about money in a very real-world way. Players keep a running balance in a check register while making debit and credit entries based on presumed paychecks and cards drawn from a special deck. Each card displays an item or activity that either costs money (ice cream, giving to charity) or earns money (raking leaves, lemonade stand). Each card is dry erase, with its price section blank, to be filled in during play. This affords players the opportunity to decide the value of things they may wish to purchase or services they might provide. While there's a scorecard as well as ratings players can earn, this is not a game about competition. It's about children gaining an understanding of something they'll deal with their entire lives, and there's no age too young to begin thinking about these things. Kids are bombarded by marketing from before they leave the cradle, teaching them to want, want, want, without any sense of the finiteness of money or the consequences attached to their decisions about it. Centsible Kids remedies that.
