The Crayola Spin and Spiral Art Station generates countless hours of creative, kid-fueled fun, hands-on activities with which children make a wild variety of bold, dramatic artworks using two very different approaches. The right side of the station is for making spin art, the left, for spiral. To use the spin art feature, the child repeatedly pushes a large green button to get the plate, with a paper disc on top, spinning rapidly, then squeezes drops of ink onto the surface, an action that mingles swirls, streaks and splashes of color to dazzling effect! For spiral art, the child places a paper disc into the shallow, left-side circular well where it is surrounded by plastic teeth that mesh with those on drawing gears placed atop the paper. By putting marker to paper through openings in variously sized gears and using the well's edge as a guide, kids create fascinatingly complex patterns that merge to form genuinely beautiful art. Each of the set's markers, ink bottles, paper discs and plastic gears has a designated storage spot within the visually appealing base unit, which is so stunningly well-designed and organized it calls to mind the adage, "A place for everything and everything in its place!"
