Fourmation is yet another great mind-bending game from SimplyFun, one that's ripe with strategic possibilities. The variety of offensive and defensive moves available, and the quick brain-work involved in evaluating them, is what makes Fourmation so exciting and so much fun. The game board consists of 36 zones, each bearing a number from 1 to 36. Each zone contains within it 4 spaces on which players can place a colored marker on their given turn. The object is to be the first player to use your markers to connect four zones in a row either horizontally, vertically, or diagonally. But in order to place your colored marker, you have to make the number of the desired zone from the sum of one or more of the four number cards in your hand. And while the math involved is simple, your brain has a lot to consider. Quickly summing various combinations of the four cards in your hand while scouring the board to see how they stack up against the zone numbers you need to target helps you take the appropriate offensive or defensive action. That juggling and comparing of numbers on the board against the sums of cards in your hand, the need to advance your position while preventing opponents from achieving victory - all adds up to a very good time.
