This fun, fast-moving game proved exceptionally effective in helping children learn to recognize and identify specific emotions in others, an essential skill that promotes productive social interactions and emotional growth at home and in school. At the start of the game, each player receives an illustrated game board that depicts three scenes in a given context such as at school, in an amusement park, on an airplane, and so on. Each scene includes kids whose facial expressions and body language convey strong emotions. At the outset of each turn, a card is flipped that displays a single emotion, upon which all players race to be first to find a visual example of that emotion on their own board. One of several elements that make Happy Or Not: A Game of Emotions so enjoyably engaging is that all players are actively involved on every turn. Another is the way the boards' scenes illustrate relatable settings that can be fun and exciting but also fraught with emotional downs as well as ups. The instruction booklet includes easy-to-follow guidance for parents in helping ensure youngsters get the utmost benefit from the game play and are able to constructively apply their newfound skills in everyday life!
