Proof of the adage that good things come in small packages, Pattern Pursuit is a phenomenally fun card game that wowed everyone who played it. The game mechanics are simple enough that they can be learned quickly, yet the abundant strategic possibilities each card played unearths keeps players' brain cells crackling. Players take turns adding or removing build cards from a shared space on the table with the goal of recreating a simple pattern of colored squares shown on one of their own pattern cards. But because the patterns each player is trying to create are visible to all, there is a constant balancing act between striving to create your own patterns while keeping an eye on blocking (or at least not aiding) opponents' progress. Spicing up the fun are a number of special cards that allow players to do game-changing things like swap the positions of build cards already on the table, cover an existing build card with a different one, take two-turns-in-one or even 'zap' or 'bomb' build cards that might get in the way of your progress or prove useful to opponents. Pattern Pursuit is for 2 to 4 players ages 7 and up. We can't praise this game highly enough!
