Polar Derby is beautifully made, with 25 wooden Polar Bear playing pieces on skates (in 5 different colors) and a pair of high quality special dice. Each Polar Bear is marked with a point value, and players pull them off the board on their turn based on rolls of the dice. The skill is rooted in quick decision-making, as many rolls of the dice result in choices to be made by the roller, not the least of which is whether to end the turn and take the winnings or keep rolling but risk losing everything won thus far on the turn. The player with the most points once all Polar Bears are off the board is the winner!
