Ratuki has all the ingredients that make a great family game - fast-moving fun, just seconds to learn, and it plays well across a broad range of ages. Each player starts with 3 cards in hand and their own draw pile from which to replenish their hand as needed. The majority of cards bear a single number from 1 to 5 expressed in a variety of ways - Arabic or Roman numerals, written word, fingers on a hand, or an image of a die. The remaining cards bear the word RATUKI, making them wild cards. The action kicks off with someone shouting "RATUKI," at which point any player with a 1 in their hand can start a stack by placing it face up on the table. There can be as many stacks as there are players, and as soon as one is started, any player can add to it a card that is one number higher or lower than the stack's top card. Someone playing a 5 or a RATUKI card on a stack shouts RATUKI! and collects the stack, placing those cards in their score pile. There's no turn-taking in this game, so right from the get-go fingers are flying, stacks are being grabbed. As soon as someone runs out of cards, the action stops and each player scores one point for every card in their score pile and loses one point for all other cards in their possession.
