Each of the 6 different models this kit allows you to build are propelled by a motor that can alternately be powered by either the solar cell or battery power. In other words, it's a hybrid energy system. As long as you've got a strong beam of light or sunlight at your disposal, you can flip the switch and let solar power be your source. In the absence of those resources, flip the switch the other way and battery power takes over. The booklet, in addition to providing easy-to-follow, step-by-step instructions, provides fascinating information about the technology behind the kit and its components. The Solar Catamaran Airboat, which moves sleekly across the surface of the water, is the kit's centerpiece. When you're ready for a change of pace, the parts can be easily disassembled by hand and reassembled as either the Off-Shore Windmill, Solar Propeller Airplane, Air Fan, Fan Rocket, or Air Blaster Speeder, each of which is detailed in the instructions.
