Sudoku Monster provides a fun and exciting way for kids to build Sudoku skills and the logical thinking that is an essential part of the puzzle-solving process. A total of 90 solo-play puzzles are numbered and ordered according to progressive challenge levels. The simplest of these consist of 4 x 4 grids in which cute little different-colored monster tokens are used to fill out the cells rather than numbers, a nicely accessible way in which to introduce children to the rules, expectations and thought processes necessary for classic Sudoku. As the youngster gradually progresses through the puzzles, the size of the grids is increased and numbers eventually take the place of monsters (the playing tokens have monsters on one side and numbers on the other) in the setups and solutions. Adding to the playfulness is the illustrated game board showing a neighborhood of friendly monsters into which each puzzle card is slotted during play and that allows the magnetized tokens to stay in place.
