Each round starts with the sand timer being flipped, after which 9 letter cards are placed face up and a category revealed. Before time runs out, the player whose turn it is must call out a word that both fits the category and starts with one of the 9 letters, else he or she loses the round. Losing three rounds costs you the game. The quickest of the quick will benefit immensely from the fact that the faster you play, the less time the next player will have for their turn. Why? Because the moment a player beats the clock with a valid word, the timer is again flipped and the sand that was in the bottom becomes the next player's time limit.
